My husband and I have been married a little over two months now and it has been 1 week and a day since my husband left for a PCS in South Korea. As I mentioned in my profile, we made the tough choice that I would remain in El Paso based on a multitude of reasons. Mainly because we have a little one (mine from a previous marriage) who goes to school here in El Paso and who's father also lives here.
My career was a big decision factor as well. I love my position (dental field) and I have been working to grow within my company - so a move would likely have thrown a wrench into that plan. Let's just say life got in the way of my packing up and following my husband.
This choice has been far from easy - just now pulling my self into big girl mode. The crying has nearly stopped (at least at work) and focus is falling on all the things I can control while we wait. Which leads me to today's post: Why The Master Cleanse Diet"?
I am fortunate in that my career allows for some additional travel time so the plan is to take three trips to visit my husband while he is stationed in South Korea. The plan is twice by myself and a summer trip with the kids. *I am very aware of how fortunate I am for this in comparison to many who are dealing with deployment etc. Because of this I will try to keep my whining to myself :)
Tim and I took a fantastic vacation to Costa Rica in July of this year. It was BEYOND amazing and we both really amped up our fitness / nutrition levels to be ready for all those days by spent beachside. We ended up getting engaged (and married shortly after) and we were both very aware of the the impending departure date for Korea. Because of this we both just decided to throw the diet and fitness rules out the window and focus on fun and happy times together before he left.
Well - we DEFINITELY enjoyed the time. Lots of yummy dinners, wine, dessert and pretty much zero physical fitness. The end result is a happy heart, lots of amazing memories and a much larger back side!!! I put on almost 20 pounds since our July vacation and I am ready to whip my ass back into shape before my March trip to Korea.
I opted for the Master Cleanse as a means of a "reset" if you will. I need to know that I am serious and so I am hoping re-training my will power. Initially the cleanse was a goal because of the obvious benefits in terms of a quick fix (or kick start). However in reading more about it, I am really excited and hopeful in seeing the other benefits as well. Hydrated skin, removal of toxins, more restful sleep, brighter eyes - you name it, this cleanse has a it.
Now - before anyone feels the need to remind me that there are no quick fixes in fitness / nutrition etc. I hear you - loud and clear. Trust me, when it comes to fitness and nutrition I have done my homework. As a previous gym owner / figure competitor / sponsored athlete I know a thing or two about how the body works.
I have always been interested in "testing" theories / diet plans etc. Everyone has their own "go to" plan that works for them for various reasons. When this 10 days is over I plan on returning to my gluten free lifestyle - complete with morning dates on my treadmill and all the glorious weighing and measuring that goes along with dieting.
This cleanse is my start point - a way to train my brain to remember I CAN DO THIS. 10 Days from now I hope to have fewer cravings, feel more hydrated, sleep sounder and appreciate the natural fuel sources of fruits, veggies and lean proteins.
Wish me luck!
